I Stage I

Just Started

Something has happened. And now you are here.

Something has happened.

Something real.

Not something symbolic. Not something temporary. Not something you imagined.

Something moved in the unseen when you said yes—or when you came back.

And now you are here, trying to understand what has just taken place.

Many people do not know what to do with this moment.

It is not like anything else.

There is a kind of peace you did not have before.

And yet, many things are not yet clear.

You still have your old thoughts.

You still live in your old surroundings.

You still have questions that feel too basic to ask.

This is not a sign that something is wrong.

This is simply what the beginning looks like.

At this point, you do not need more information.

You do not need to read widely.

You do not need to become convinced of anything you are not already convinced of.

You need to be grounded.

You need a simple, steady rhythm that keeps your eyes on the right things while everything else is being settled.

There are two quiet dangers at this stage.

The first is to rush—to try and become a mature Christian in a week.

People push themselves into practices they are not ready for. They take on language and identity before those things have been formed in them. They try hard. They burn out.

The second is to drift—to wait for things to become clear on their own.

People float. They listen without receiving. They feel unsettled for years because no one walked them carefully into what has already taken place.

You do not need to rush.

You do not need to drift.

Three simple postures will hold you here.

Receive. What has happened to you was a gift. It was not earned and it cannot be undone.

Feed. The Word of God, simply received, will form you in ways no technique can.

Walk. Begin a daily rhythm that keeps your attention in the right place.

You are not trying to prove anything.

You are learning to stand.

The books below are not a course.

They are not a program.

They are a grounding.

The first explains what has happened in you.

The second gives you a daily rhythm that keeps your footing.

They are not for sale. They are a gift as you begin.

Receive them, and start.

You are not starting a religion.

You are beginning a life.

And life has to be fed—not just explained.

Now begin.
